"Mascot Madness" is a Camp Lazlo episode from season 2. In this episode, Lazlo notices that Camp Kidney lost their camp spirit. Therefore, he tries to get them back by being mascot for camp.
Synopsis[]
After the campers vie to become the camp mascot, Edward gets jealous because of Raj and Clam getting the mascot position. Edward tries to prevent the Jelly Beans from becoming the mascot by blackmailing the Jelly cabins mates, in which ends in success but would ultimately later backfire when he has to face against the opponent in physical fight.
Plot[]
Every bean scout is bored out of their minds except for Lazlo who is trying to use his imagination to keep himself from feeling bored. He goes to see Scoutmaster Lumpus who is sleeping in his filing cabinet to get away from the noise. When he comes out, some photos drop on the floor. Lazlo looks at them and sees they're of past Camp Kidney mascots. This gives him the idea to hold auditions for a new mascot to brighten the camp spirit. Edward wants to be the mascot more than anyone.
At the auditions, Lazlo observes the acts. Dave and Ping-Pong act as a human clothesline and ask for a "C" because they have an "A" instead. Samson dresses up like a penguin and does a "Boom-shaka-lqka" dance. Chip and Skip's mascot is a tribute to Lumpus, but it only consists of a tiny finger puppet. Next is Edward who dubs himself the Duke of Lice. He is dress up like a louse with a crown on his head and fires a cannon of lice at the other scouts. This causes them to get lice everywhere.
Last but not least, it's Raj and Clam as the Jumping Beans. They perform a little Mexican tribute as beans in sombreros while jumping and changing to other Mexican attire. The winner will not be announced until the following morning, but Edward knows that after the auditions, Raj and Clam are going to win and invites the Jelly Beans to a party in the marshmallow shack, even though it's off-limits.
At the marshmallow shack, the Jellies are the only ones there. Edward slams the door and warns them that going into the shack may result in expulsion. He makes a badly drawn picture of the Jellies in the shack (Clam comments on the drawing's poor quality throughout the rest of the episode) and threatens to show it to Lumpus unless they make the Duke of Lice the mascot. Lazlo wants to stick with his decision, but Raj and Clam are worried that Lumpus will believe the drawing and expel them.
The next morning, Lazlo reluctantly declares the Duke of Lice the winner, much to the disappointment and confusion of the other campers. Lumpus sees the poster and tells Edward that he will be competing in his first mascot competition the following day at Acorn Flats.
At Acorn Flats, the match is about to begin. Lazlo, Raj and Clam are upset that the Jumping Beans are not competing due to Edward's threat. Edward then finds out that this competition is actually a physical fight and his opponent is Ms. Mucus. Mucus shows absolutely no mercy and starts throttling Edward. The other scouts do not know whether or not they should help him, so Lazlo decides to make a list of reasons why they should or should not. It consists of several reasons why they shouldn't help him, amd the only reason why they should is because he is a fellow bean scout. Despite the severe difference, they figure it is a good enough reason, amd they all join in to help Edward and attack Ms. Mucus. Chip and Skip even finish their Lumpus tribute as a giant Chinese dragon-style float and fire the lice cannon at Ms. Mucus, defeating her and winning the match for Camp Kidney. Lumpus tells Edward that the next match is against Camp Piranha, and Edward is ecstatic to still be the mascot of Camp Kidney.
